Jihee Heo (JIhui Heo), Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, New York based Jazz Pianist and Composer. She began playing classical piano at age 4. Influenced by greats such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Keith Jarrett, Jihee switched to jazz piano at age 16.
In 2008, Ms. Heo graduated with her first Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (The Netherlands). Ms. Heo’s Master’s Degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music (New York), earned in 2013.
She has performed at the most famous vanues and concert Halls such as Bergen Pac (New Jersey), The Bitter End(New York), KT Art Hall (Seoul, Korea), Club Once in a Blue Moon (Seoul, Korea), Club Evans (Seoul, Korea), Sofar Sound (New York), National Sawdust (New York), Arthur’s Tavern (New York), Rockwood Music Hall (New York), Nublu (New York) and Harlem Stage (New York). and some major festivals such as Jersey Shore Festival(New Jersey), O+ Festival(New York), Leverkusen Jazz Festival (Germany), International African Arts Festival (New York) and the DC Jazz Festival (Washington D.C)
Ms. Heo’s discography as a bandleader, composer, and accompanist includes Passion (2015), Arirang with Christopher Klassen Quartet (2006), Mixology with Jayne Wilcox (2016) and Naïve with Hyun Sun Park (2010). Currently she is recording as a keyboardist, composer, and arranger with Cross Culture, under the direction of Grammy-winning engineer and producer Fran Cathcart.
Ms. Heo’s Nonet album Passion, which allowed her to fully explore her love of music composition as well as performance. Her debut album “Passion” was recently reviewed by The New York City Jazz Record, MM Jazz Korea, Jazz People Korea and Grammy-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum.
